WHO IS LUXE ROCKLINE?

I chose the name Luxe Rockline because I have always loved rocks and have been collecting and identifying them my entire life. When I was young, I would spend hours collecting rocks and then bring them to my father’s home office and sit on his lap while he told me the names of each of them. He was a collector of precious and semi-precious stones - cutting and polishing them on his lathe, then setting them in 14k and sterling settings. He stopped using his lathe and cutting stones before I was born, but my ability to create jewelry and collect and identify stones and historical pieces has always been innate.

“I would spend hours collecting rocks and then bring them to my father’s home office and sit on his lap while he told me the names of each of them.”

When I was around 7 years old, my parents picked my sister and me up from school at lunchtime. They told us that we were going to a Postmaster convention in Los Angeles for our father, but they were actually taking us on our first trip to Disneyland! We could barely contain our excitement as we drove under the Disneyland arch. The first ride we went on was Pirates of the Caribbean. Well, if you have ever been on the Pirates of the Caribbean ride, you will know that there is a huge treasure chest that is overflowing with gems, coins, strands of pearls, and gem-encrusted crowns and skulls. This image was burned into my memory and has been my creative inspiration ever since!

My mother had glass tubes filled with Czech beads with a cork on the end that she had brought with her from Australia. She gave me the tubes of beads to play with and I still have two of them. I began making bracelets out of these tiny colorful Czech beads on wire when I was about 7 years old. I still have several of these bracelets to remind myself how far I’ve come. I would ask my father for his old fishing line for stringing and lure hooks for closures and would ask my mother for safety pins to use as closures as well. I then began stringing small seashells that I had collected onto the fishing line and these were my first jewelry creations.

I have continued to teach myself how to create every aspect of my earrings, necklaces, and bracelets and I make everything with love and great attention to detail. I make each piece as if I were going to keep it and wear it myself and want each piece to be worn knowing that it was made with love.

“I make each piece as if I were going to keep it and wear it myself and want each piece to be worn knowing that it was made with love.”

My jewelry, my craft, and every element of my pieces is entirely authentic. I research each and every piece and have an eye for spotting authenticity. Perhaps it is from the many many books I have read, or from being immersed in history through my father, but I’ve always intuitively known whether jewelry is costume or genuine and whether stones are real or artificial. I have been told that I am not just a collector with an eye for historical pieces, but an artist crafting my own timeless, authentic creations.

Join me on my never-ending treasure hunt!

With love,

Allison
